Governor Wa Iria: No political meetings in Murang’a without my approval

Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has come out guns blazing saying he will henceforth take charge of all political functions and events in the county. This follows chaos witnessed at Kenol on Sunday during a visit by Deputy President William Ruto during which two people were killed and dozens of others injured.

In a pronouncement dubbed Murang’a County declaration of 05/10/2020, only the President will be exempted from the set conditions.

The declaration further provides that, “All political meetings, fundraisers involving outsiders shall have one uniform master of ceremony who will be Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, and in his absence, Senator Irungu Kang’ata or Woman representative Sabina Chege.”

The Murang’a County boss accused Kiharu legislator Ndindi Nyoro and his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome of having a history with violence, hence adding that all National Government development projects in their respective constituencies shall henceforth be conducted under the office of the governor.

Wa Iria, Kang’ata, and Sabina said the proposed visit in Mathioya Constituency by the Deputy President on the 16th of this month is highly welcome saying they will be at hand to welcome the visitors.

The Governor made the statement in Murang’a town accompanied by senator Irungu Kang’ata, woman representative Sabina Chege, Mathioya MP Peter Kimari, Gatanga MP Eng Joseph Nduati, Maragua MP Mary Wamaua Waithira, and Kangema MP Muturi kigano.
