NPR blamed for incompetency in the fight against terror

Fafi Member of Parliament Abdikarim Osman has accused some members from the National Police Reservists (NPR) of incompetency in discharging their duties across his constituency.

The legislator said irresponsible officers are to blame for terror activities orchestrated by Al Shabaab militia after realizing their NPR weaknesses.

He cited an incident in Hagadera and Alinjugur a few months ago where some members of NPR could not account for their firearms while involving themselves in an illegal border trade and careless handling of guns.

Speaking after handing over motorcycles to youths Bura town, Osman asked the Regional Commissioner to recruit an additional 20 NPR with reputable character to serve in the areas where security is a challenge.

He added that the locals should also assist the security personnel in sharing of information for quick responses especially now that the schools are reopening partially.
